Share Your Stories of Youth

We have team up with our friends at Fred Perry and are taking the Museum of Youth Culture on tour to collect your photographs and ephemera of youth and subcultures in Britain.

Half the fun of going out is the getting ready, and the anticipation for what’s to come. From choosing which shirt to wear, planning and texting with your mates, to the joint playlists, getting drinks at the corner shop and CCTV selfies.

We are collecting photographs and ephemera from rights of passage – whether it’s getting ready in your teenage bedroom, bundling in the car with your mates for your first festival or documenting your journey into town with a full facebook photo album – we want to represent you and the youth of Britain.

We’re going on tour and will be coming to a town and Fred Perry shop near you for Show & Tell days. Bring in your memories, photos, flyers and ticket stubs and help us build the Museum of Youth Culture.

Can’t make it down to the in-store event? Submit your photographs via our handy form below!

Handy Scanning Tips

It is super easy to digitise your photographs, and all you really need is your phone! Here are some things to consider when digitising your photo:

1. Take a photograph from directly above, and try to keep it as straight as possible.

2. Place the photograph on a plain background, where possible, or pin it up on a wall.

3. Try and avoid any glare or shadows on the photograph, as they will be visible. Where possible use natural light, and don't use your flash.

4. When sending your photograph e-mail it on - messenger apps like Facebook Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp compress photos and reduce the image quality.
