Collecting new stories for the Museum of Youth Culture.

Outreach Champs

Everyone has an important story to tell about being young.

We launched our Outreach Champions programme to open up whose stories we are collecting and ensure that we champion the voices of those currently underrepresented in the Museum of Youth Culture's collections. From the 90s Asian Underground Dance scene to people who marched in Britain's first LGBTQ+ march, these eight collections of oral histories and photographs mark a future way of collecting for the Museum. Explore the stories below!

The Outreach Champion programme is part of the wider Grown up in Britain campaign, building a museum from the ground up with people's photographs, memories and objects.

Part of Setting the Record Straight on British Youth Culture, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
